Terms & Conditions

1) Introduction:

HD Software is a child-run company and we do not guarantee that our services will always work, as our product developers are only amateurs at this time. Any deals made are NOT legally binding unless otherwise stated. Please note we have limited resources, and this includes money. 

 

2) What is Edustrate? 

​

Edustrate is HD Software’s learning platform, created by amateur coder Isaac Whitaker with a little help from other employees. It allows you to set tasks (as a teacher), submit work and chat (as a child), and lots more including a parent UI. It is currently only an online app, but we look forward to rolling it out as an Android/iOS application and perhaps a desktop app. It is currently only in a beta state, so please forgive us for any errors with the current version (and report them, see below).

3) Privacy 

 

We host our systems on Firebase, which is a web hosting framework owned by Google LLC: their terms and conditions are here. We will try our best to anonymise data and will never sell data to third parties but however, because we use Firebase, Google Analytics will collect data. We also host our email systems on Zoho Mail, their terms and conditions can be found here, although your details will only be disclosed to them if you send us emails.

4) Sales 

 

All contracts made by HD Software Limited or of its partners come with a 1-month refund policy, as well as a 6-month warranty. Contracts can be cancelled at any time by emailing us at support@edustrate.co.uk, but please note that we will only terminate your contract, not refund previous costs unless this action is taken within the refund period. All data and credentials linked to your account will be lost.  

 

5) Products 

 

HD Software manage the Edustrate, Myroom and Actigo applications and accept responsibility for any errors or faults within the program, but we do not accept responsibility for any misuse within your copy of the program. Your copy of the program is separate from that of other customers, and any damage you inflict on that copy is unique to your program. Any attempts to unlawfully access and/or damage other users’ copies of Edustrate will result in the removal of access for you (and therefore your organisation) to the program. HD Software reserves the right to remove access for you or anyone who uses our services, and/or terminate their subscription and contract, at any time and under any circumstances where we take it to be appropriate to take this action. When you buy the product, you must accept this. 

 

6) Special circumstances â€‹

  • In the event of a fault within the program, system-wide, we will let you know as soon as possible as well as providing you with a repaired version of the program. Not everything is perfect! Check our system status at https://hds.freshstatus.io where we release updates. 

  • In the event of a fault within your copy of the program, please tell us what happened, although we may already know sometimes. We will try to repair your program or send you a new copy, depending on circumstances. 

  • We CANNOT accept responsibility for misuse or abuse by users on our systems. 

To avoid these events occurring, we recommend that you always have the latest version of the program, and we will not support you if you are in an event.

We will refuse to support you if: 

  • You have deliberately meddled with the program, or altered its performance in one way or another 

  • You are using an old version (see above) 

  • You have unlawfully gained access to Edustrate, by lawfully we mean through HD Software 

Edustrate updates are free and available to everyone, if you wish to check for an update please email us your version number, to support@edustrate.co.uk, and if there is a newer version, we will send you it, although you should have got it anyway. Please notify us if there is a problem with your version. New versions normally contain bug fixes, performance improvements and UI upgrades. 

 

7) Payment 

 

Edustrate costs money. We accept certain forms of payment currently, although we are always trying to make it easier to use our services: 

  • Cash 

  • Card via Direct Debit 

You must pay us the specified amount to start a free trial, and if you cancel afterwards, we will refund you. We charge a recurring amount, and you may choose when you want to pay, but you will still pay the same amount as other customers. We currently offer 3 plans: 

  • Plus costs £10 p/a 

  • Pro costs £22 p/a 

  • Premium costs £27/user p/a 

 

8) Services 

 

When you buy Edustrate, HD Software provides you with standard services: 

  • Support Service (weekdays, 09:00 until 16:00, email: support@edustrate.co.uk, but please note you’ll need to present your institution code to prove you own Edustrate) 

  • Enquiries Service (weekdays, 09:00 until 16:00, email: enquiries@edustrate.co.uk please use this email for contact before you buy Edustrate) 

If you wish to contact a member of the HD Software team, by all means to do but only if you have a referral code. These are issued by support@edustrate.co.uk and enquiries@edustrate.co.uk. Present your referral code within your email, otherwise you will be ignored by the staff member. You do not need a referral code to send an email to the Support Service or Enquiries Service. You can find them here:  

 

If you have a referral code and wish to send a message to a staff member, please email: 

So we can contact you by phone for better service, it would be great if you could quote your phone number, and a time when you would be fine to be called by us. These calls are charged at our expense, so are free for you, but are monitored from the start. We will immediately hang up if we receive misuse of our phone service. 

 

9) Third parties 

 

HD Software may work with third-party companies within Kings’ School Winchester, including Inspirational Limited, Whale.co, ViggyCorp and Ablaze LLC, but we won’t share your details with them without your permission. We care about your privacy, as highlighted in our Privacy Policy (section 3 of this document).
